Parents' Assistance

Dear Parents,

Please help me out and look at your student's projects tonight if you can.  I have been on them all week to make sure that they are putting their best effort forward on their projects.  While some projects look like they will be great works of art, some look like it is going to take working at home tonight in order for them to get to where they need to be in order to get an 'acceptable grade'.

Please understand that I am not going to be very leanient on these grades.  We have worked in class over the last week (+) and I have offered my assistance daily.  Those projects that fall short of the requirements and creativity/neatness are due to lack of effort on some of the students' parts.

This is my final push to see that my students take this project seriously and hand in their best work considering the time we have spent on this in class.

Thank you for your help,

Mike Meldon

Have Fun!!

Thanks Parents!!

We'd like to thank those parents that commented on the blog!  We just wanted to give you a chance to see what your child will be working with daily and want you to know that you can visit this site as often as you wish to see what we (and your child specifically) are up to in class.

To answer a specific question--- yes, we do ask that you get your weekly information on homwork from this site.  We will post it to Progressbook, but as many of you know it serves of little function when the students are not using it.  This site will be used by all students and updated daily.

Also, many seem to be a little worried and wonder 'how things are gong to go with this moving forward'.  This site will move forward in the same manner it has worked over the first week.  You can view the agenda for the class, the learning objective for the class, and also see specifics examples of your students work and responces (comments).  It really won't get much more complicated than that--- so, no fear.

Thanks again for your positive comments.  We are working hard to give your child a meaningful and current learning experience.

Mr. Meldon, Mr. Chenault, Mr. Tribble

PS-- Please feel feel to sign up for your own blogger account and follow us!! We welcome your comments always.  (If it is of a more personal matter- concerning a particular student or problem- please remember that email may be the best option however)

Hello Parents,

We just wanted to give you a chance to see what your child will be using daily in Social Studies class. This site displays the agenda for the day as well as an archive for past classes. The page also has a "don't forget" section that reminds students of important things such as upcoming tests. Many times the students will be graded on comments that they make on this blog-- for example, we may post questions on our blog and students will answer them through the comments section. We believe that this blog site will be very beneficial in our students' development and sucess this year in class.

Also, please visits your child's own blog site and see what they have created.

By Monday, August 30, we ask that you comment below if you had a chance to look at this site with your student!! Thanks!!

Please watch the video link in the "links" section called, PREAMBLE (using your headphones). Listen to the words that begin the US Constitution. You may need to google the "US Constitution Preamble" to read the words also to get a better understanding of what is being said.

After watching the video and reading the words, please define the following words in your vocabulary section of your notebook: promote, insure, welfare, prosperity, liberty.

Then, answer the following question by commenting below (2-3 sentences each):

-What is a constitution?

-What does the constitution do for a country?
