Columbus was traveling to find a Western route to Asia to get spices because spices were really popular in the 15th century and traders could get rich quick shipping them between Asia and Europe.

4)Colombus treated the people that lived in America like slaves, he had them mine at the age of 14 and so on becuase he wanted gold and wealth. He did not care about the natives.
5)To us Colombus was intending to travel to Asia and India but realized that he ended up in America which was not discovered yet, Colombus and his men did have good intentions by wanting to prove that the world was round and they also wanted money but it was wrong for Colombus to enslave the native people of America.

2. Yes, Columbus did realize the earth was round, but he wasn’t the first one to realize it. A Greek mathematician named Pythagoras suspected that we were living on a sphere in the 6th century of B.C. Then 2 centuries later, Aristotle backed Pythagoras up with his theory. Columbus did realize that the earth was round, but he wasn’t the first one to realize it.
3. Columbus did not reach his destination. Columbus landed somewhere along the North American border. Historians are not certain where along it though.
4. The people from the North American borders were treated like slaves by Columbus. Columbus forced everyone from there (who was 14 years or older) to dig for gold without a choice. If the people did not do their jobs, then Columbus would beat and torture them.
5. I think that Columbus is mean and selfish because He made the Indians dig gold that was worthless to them. Columbus also gave them beatings. Columbus was judgmental of the Indians for dressing different.
