EAH- Meldon 8/27

Please watch the video link in the "links" section called, PREAMBLE (using your headphones). Listen to the words that begin the US Constitution. You may need to google the "US Constitution Preamble" to read the words also to get a better understanding of what is being said.
After watching the video and reading the words, please define the following words in your vocabulary section of your notebook: promote, insure, welfare, prosperity, liberty.

Then, answer the following question by commenting below (2-3 sentences each):

A constitution is a set of laws agreed on with the government, it's a written document. By limiting the governments power the consitution it guarantees certian rights to the people.

What the consitution does for the contries is; it gives the authoriies laws for better control over the contry. It also allows freedom to the people.

the constitution is a document that protects the basic and civil rights of the citizens in our country from the government.

it keeps our country from becoming a monarchy or a dictatorship. it keeps the balance between different societies and branches of our government, and keeps the power distributed between the people of our country.

A constitution is a document that sets out the fundemental rules for the country that has the constitution. The country would then base the rest of their goverment off of this constitution.


The constitution sets out the basic rules for a countries goverment. These rules are like the base of the goverment and help the country stay strong.

United States Constitution: the constitution written at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 and subsequently ratified by the original thirteen states. It gives us the freedom and the right to live, practice religon freely and many other rights.

A constitution is a set of laws that grants and limits power to the government, and grants rights to the people such as "Freedom of speech" and "Freedom of religion".
