Parent Post

Meldon/Chenault-

Hello Parents,

We just wanted to give you a chance to see what your child will be using daily in Social Studies class. This site displays the agenda for the day as well as an archive for past classes. The page also has a "don't forget" section that reminds students of important things such as upcoming tests. Many times the students will be graded on comments that they make on this blog-- for example, we may post questions on our blog and students will answer them through the comments section. We believe that this blog site will be very beneficial in our students' development and sucess this year in class.

Also, please visits your child's own blog site and see what they have created.

By Monday, August 30, we ask that you comment below if you had a chance to look at this site with your student!! Thanks!!

Mr. Meldon, Mr. Chenault, Mr. Tribble

I am not sure how I feel about it at this time. I want to see how it works out for my son, how much time it takes, how much learning is truly gained verses time spent on it. Time will tell......

It seems a good way to involve the kids--by using their favorite means of communication. American History is a great subject for this kind of activity. I hope you get a lot of excellent discussion.

I believe this is going to be an excellent tool for the students. I think this will help them to be successful with Social Studies as well as keeping them current with technology today and in the future.

Wow! What an advanced way to bring history to the "twenty-first century learner." I wish I could view what my child is adding to the blog. It would be a interesting peek at her classroom participation!

Good to bring an interactive tool to the classroom....but when do we go to this blog for homework etc versus when do we go to Progress Book for homework assignment info?

I think this is a good use of free resources. Same as the other parents, I am not sure how it will pan out. That being said, most current events and news information is passed through the blogging world.

I think it's a good use of technology as well as helping my boys learn more Early American History. I think any tool that helps my boys learn is a positive thing. Jacob and Joshua's mom.

We like the the idea of blogging and a multi-sensory approach to learning and welcome a resourse that will stay updated and current. We do hope that the class covers a lot of content. An additional concern is that our family of 5 shares one computer and not everyone can get on it some evenings. Brian and Carol
